This summer may be a washout but it shouldn’t put us off visiting festivals, camping or taking holidays within the UK. We’ve put together a handy list of what you need for British festivals, whether it’s a wet or sunny weekend.
A Strong Resolve and a Positive Attitude
Firstly you need a strong resolve and a positive attitude. the sun will come out in spurts between the clouds and you will enjoy some of that summer sunshine. Whether you’re wet or dry you’re creating memories and enjoying the best of British. If we all waited for a sunny day in England we’d never leave the house.
Positivity is the key to surviving both a heatwave and a wet weekend.
A Bitmore Festival Kit
The Bitmore Festival Kit is ideal as it includes all you need to enjoy a festival in any weather. It has a poncho, a toothbrush, a bluetooth speaker and that’s not all.
The festival kit has a towel, a selfie stick, earphones and ear plugs and a few little extras. It seems it’s thought of everything for a great festival weekend. It’s also only £29.99 – we give it 5 out of 5 stars. It makes a great gift for a teenager, or for a friend with a camper van.
A Good Pair of Wellies
Even townies need a good pair of wellies in the British summer. We especially love the William Morris wellies from Brier, they’re our current favourites.
A Good Dash Cam
The traffic on the way to a festival is usually some of the worst you’ll see all year. Make sure you’re fully equipped with a good dashcam. Who knows it could capture the next viral video as it takes shots of the road, but also the festival goers on foot!
We recommend the Philips ADR 810 Dash Cam. It’s easy to use, fits neatly inside the car and doesn’t get in the way. It’s full HD so captures ultra clear images while also having the advantage of nightview, which is ideal for a festival. It’s also currently on offer in many places like Amazon.
The Tegstove
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, the Tegstove is amazing and a must for camping. It even charges your phone. Find out more in our Father’s Day Gift Guide.
A 3 Day Deodorant
With your hands in the air the last thing you want to worry about is the smell of your arm pits. We’ve tried and tested two deodorants that last for three full days, ideal for a festival.
The first is Odeban. It lasts for 3 days, doesn’t really have a scent but it does really work. It’s great for underarms but can be useful for sweaty feet too. It doesn’t block the sweat glands so you don’t end up with nasty lumps. It costs £10.49 from Boots and is well worth it.
The second is the new Sure deodorant in a cream. This really works and smells amazing. You almost paint it onto the skin, using the applicator. The only gripe we had is that it doesn’t last longer but that could be due to us using too much. It recommends just two twists of the dial before applying. For a budget deodorant we have to say that this is by far the best we’ve ever tried.
Dry Mouth Lozenges
These are also helpful for fighting bad breath and as they contain no nasty ingredients they’re good for teeth too.
A Portable Toothbrush
Your dentists will tell you that an electrical toothbrush is much better than a manual, but in reality, where will you find a charging socket at a festival? The Colgate pocket pro is ideal, as it’s portable, can be charged using a USB (in the car or using a phone charger) and it’s small which means you can brush on the go. At 25,000 strokes you’ll never miss that clean feeling.

Nutritious Snacks and Drinks
This week we’ve tested out Chewy Moon fruit snacks and What a Melon drinks and we love them both. From two different companies, these products share the same ethos. Healthy, delicious snacks and drinks that taste amazing and provide you with vitamins. The Chewy Moon can be bought as part of a subscription, allowing you to receive lunch through the post. What a Melon should soon be in all good supermarkets, it tastes like real watermelon and is one of the most refreshing drinks we’ve tried in quite a while. Both are a must for a weekend away.
