Gransnet announces first writing competition for a new children’s author, with independent publisher Bobaloo Books
Gransnet, the UK’s biggest online network for grandparents, and independent publisher Bobaloo Books today launch a nationwide competition to hunt for writing talent, seeking one winner whose children’s book will be published next spring.
The judging panel, led by Bobaloo’s Publisher, Janet Kelly, will include Cari Rosen and Lara Crisp, Gransnet Editors, top industry writers and publishers as well as Iain Rushworth, children’s book buyer for WH Smith. Bobaloo Books will whittle the entries down to a shortlist of 25, and the judges will select one winner, whose name will be announced in September.
The winner will receive a publishing contract from Bobaloo Books, and their book will be published in Spring 2017. They will receive advice on how to build their profile as a writer, as well as the editing, design, illustration, print, sales, marketing and distribution from Bobaloo Books. Ten runners up will receive signed copies of Doris Morris by Janet Kelly, and feedback on their entries, with guidance on how to progress in their writing career.
Cari Rosen, Gransnet Editor said “Gransnet users keep us constantly entertained on the forums, and many of them are talented creative writers – so partnering up with a publisher like Bobaloo books makes complete sense and is a wonderful way to give someone the opportunity to really launch their writing career. This is an exclusive opportunity to see writing dreams come true, and we can’t wait to see what our users have to offer.”
Janet Kelly, Founder of Bobaloo Books said ‘This is an amazing opportunity for those unsung heroes who create wonderful stories for their (or other people’s) children, grandchildren and young people. The winner will benefit from expert advice as well as a ready-made audience and considerable professional support for their work.’
