Every year we visit London to review Spas, Clinics, Salons and Hotels for our London Hotel Awards and Salon Awards.

This year we visited Karine Jackson for a cut and blow dry along with some advice in order to review for our salon awards and seal of approval.

Karine has a gorgeous salon at the Seven Dials in London, just a couple of skips from the tube station and perfectly primed to watch the footfall of bustling traffic rush by. The salon itself is decorated tastefully while the staff are all happy and carefree. Understandably, as with any busy salon, it was very busy but with Karine’s personality this didn’t seem to matter as she instantly makes you feel like the only person in the room.

Karine had quite the task on her hands with me. I rarely use product and I don’t have time to spend even twenty minutes on my hair of a morning. I have a natural wave that lends itself to frizz and at just 35 I have a head of grey hair that I’ve tried, and failed, to cover up with numerous home kits. All this has taken it’s toll and when I visited Karine my hair was in the worst condition possible.

She explained to me about the damage I’d done and how to avoid it in the future. She asked questions about my lifestyle and got to the bottom of why I wash it daily. She gave me some great tips and instead of blasting me for my addiction to home hair kits, she brought out a chart to determine what colour would actually complement my features.

She gave me a cut that worked with my bedraggled hair and made the wave look like an advantage. Now, I can let my hair dry naturally, without worrying about a big ball of frizz and I can do this with no product, which is a miracle.

What You Should Post On Facebook Without Shame

Unlike other salons, she didn’t try to upsell to me, which was a little bit of a shame as I am a very happy shopper! I told her what I used and she said these were perfectly fine to continue with, it was just the frequency of use and the home hair kits that posed a problem. I left with a cut I was happy with and one that I also grew into as the months passed which is why I think Karine Jackson at Seven Dials deserves our Salon Award!
