This was a guest post written by Rebecca Fehily and submitted by Martina Mercer for LivingWell gyms, strangely, they didn’t want Martina’s name linked to it though, so now it’s all ours! Here are their 3 ways to improve your diet. We love a bit of scandal, don’t you?

If lettuce and cucumber tasted as good as cake, dieting would be a dream! However, with some tasty recipes healthy options can taste just as good, if not better than their calorific counterparts.

To make matters worse we are constantly bombarded with high calorie, nutrient low foods, however, this doesn’t have to be the case, with some careful planning you can eat like a king while looking after your body.

There are thousands of healthy recipes, from a scrumptious raw chocolate brownie that is packed with protein and nutrients to delicious chicken and meat dishes, that may be lean on the calories but are jam packed with flavour and health benefits.

It is commonly thought that healthy food is bland and tasteless, but in reality nothing could be further from the truth! With spices, good quality ingredients and fresh, natural produce you will be hard pushed to find anything tastier and better for you.

We have made a list of the top 3 things you can incorporate into your diet that not only improve your health but taste incredible too!

Drink, Drink, Drink

We don’t mean a nice glass of Pinot, we’re talking h2o! It is said that by drinking 2 litres of water everyday not only keeps us hydrated but can improve our skin condition and can even regulate our blood flow!

To spice up your water why not add some fresh lemon, lime and mint to a jug of water that you can keep in the fridge, this will create a refreshing, thirst quenching water that will be an absolute joy to drink.

Fibre Rich Foods

Fibre rich food can lower your cholesterol and even lower your blood sugar levels. Fibre also plays a crucial role in maintaining your health. Some of the most popular fibre rich foods are peas, oats, carrots, barley and beans, these are just a handful of options.

Increasing your fibre in take can also keep you regular and flush out toxins from your body, which will not only improve your health but also improve your mood too.

Increasing your Protein Intake

Protein is one of the most crucial food groups in our diets and it doesn’t have to be a big juicy steak, if you’re a vegetarian there are lots of grains and alternatives available to you.

Protein provides you body with much needed energy, as protein cannot be stored it is the perfect addition to your diet, especially if your very active.
