When it comes to your wedding day, you undoubtedly want to look and feel your best. Every woman set to tie the knot has their heart set on getting that sought-after bridal glow for their big day. Here you can learn how to achieve picture-perfect skin in time for your wedding and, if you start a beauty routine early enough, your hen do too!

  1. Get Plenty of Shuteye

If wedding planning is taking over, you may not be getting the rest you need. While it’s important to get those final details sorted – favours, name place cards and gifts for the bridal party, to name but a few – they’re not worth losing sleeping over.

Get plenty of shuteye in the run up to your big day, particularly the night before your wedding. Sleep boots blood flow to the skin, resulting in a beautiful complexion, so an early night will work wonders on your wedding day eve. Set a curfew and stick to it; your skin will rejuvenate while you sleep and you’ll wake up with a healthy glow.

  1. Protect Your Skin

Are you planning on jetting off to the sun before your big day? We don’t blame you; nothing beats a natural tan for your wedding day and if you’re worried about looking like an Oompa Loompa, it’s best to avoid fake tan. However, it’s imperative that you protect your skin from harmful rays.

Always use a moisturiser that contains an SPF and wear sunscreen at all times, even if you’re going out in the sun for a short period. It doesn’t take long for the skin to catch the sun and the last thing you want to accompany your wedding dress is ghastly tan lines. Look after your skin by lathering up and you’ll effortlessly keep sun damage at bay.

  1. Swap Your English Breakfast Tea with Green

Who would have thought that green tea can benefit the skin? Kickstart your day with a cup of green tea and not only will you increase your metabolism, you’ll be on track to achieving flawless skin too.

Green tea can help improve your skin tone and delay signs of aging, as well as protect the sun from UV rays. Forget splashing our on fancy facials; enhance your skin complexion by ditching your trusty English Breakfast for a cup of green tea. You can put the money you’d spend on beauty treatments towards a designer wedding dress instead.

  1. Eat Well

Of course you can have a treat every now and again, but on the whole you should try and steer clear from sugary foods. Insulin, produced by sugar, can damage collage and cause wrinkles – not what you want in general, let alone for one of the biggest days in your life.

Limit your sugar intake and load up on fruits and vegetables. Foods rich in vitamin C produce collagen, which can help strengthen your skin; while foods high in Vitamin E can help protect your skin from cell damage. Be sure to eat a well-balanced diet and you’ll soon start to notice the changes to your skin.

  1. Drink Plenty of Water

It’s important to drink plenty of water generally, however if you’re not very good at upping your fluid intake, make a conscious effort to do so in the weeks running up to your wedding.

Try and drink around eight of water a day to stay hydrated. Dehydration can cause your skin to be dry and flaky, making it difficult for your make up to go on smoothly and evenly. If you’re too busy in work to remember to drink, it may be worth buying a water bottle that has motivational time markings. They may be on the pricey side, but it’ll be money spent if you get hydrated, glowing skin in return!
