Down a tree lined road near Dawlish sits the perfectly manicured Cofton Holidays Village. With an idyllic backdrop of a church, this ultra-modern holiday park blends tradition with up to date facilities seamlessly. On a sunny day you could be forgiven for assuming you are visiting a tropical hideaway, as the outdoor heated pool glistens while the sun bounces off the crystal clear water and the proud palm trees sway in the gentle breeze.

Cofton Holidays delivered an excellent first impression, as it provides all you need for a family or romantic getaway in the seclusion of a park that’s expertly maintained. Every small detail has been considered and executed, from the pristine playgrounds to the field for dog walkers, the fishing lakes full to bursting with carp and the selection of fine eateries.

Facilities to Write Home About

There are the typical facilities to keep children entertained, the amusements, the bowling alley, the generously sized indoor play area alongside the strokes of luxury that make this holiday park a cut above the generic chains that seem tired and thoughtless in comparison (we’re naming no names).

The breadth of amenities greeted us from the outset at check in and gave us high hopes for the self-catering accommodation, we were not disappointed.

Woodside Cottage

We were directed to Woodside cottage, one of three a little away from the park, nestled within open fields, with plump cows and owls providing the musical backdrop. The mellifluous tweeting seemed like the ideal backdrop to our step over the threshold into the homely cottage.

A kitchen to aspire to, a range that’s generous, a power shower that packs a punch and beds to sink into all make Woodside the ideal retreat for a weekend in the country, with a vista of the sea.

A quick glance at the bedding proved Cofton had once again considered the details, as the Egyptian Cotton was branded with one of our favourite luxury bedding providers, Soak and Sleep. An ice maker in the kitchen and a generous hamper of sweet treats made this stay luxurious from the very first moments.

Then we found the bubbling hot tub, not too full of chemicals, set at the perfect temperature, beckoning us for a dip. With the swimming pool and sauna, the restaurants, the wooded walks and the sea just a short drive away, we felt we had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We were not disappointed.

Last Impressions

We left with the impression that Cofton Holidays provide a little bit more for families. Without being overpriced they respect their guests and understand that quality and excellent customer service counts. The public areas were clean and tidy while equipment was maintained to a superior standard and this due care and attention extended to the holiday cottage.
