If you don’t know who Whoopi Goldberg is you’ve been living in space. The most iconic, incredible, talented actresses of the 90’s and beyond, this inspirational woman gave teenagers like me someone to look up to, someone to love, to adore, cherish, and even though she didn’t speak directly from the TV screen, she always radiated so much love that I felt she was wrapping me in a warm familial hug whenever she appeared. From Ghost, that I’ve watched over 128 times due to my mum’s crush on Patrick Swayze to Sister Act 1 and 2, to Bogus and PageMaster and all the animated shows in-between, not to mention the Oscar worthy The Colour Purple.
Obviously a strong, independent woman, she has the ability to portray vulnerable characters, giving them layers of personality that are so unique, yet so relatable. Just one sideways glance can have you rolling on the floor laughing at her impeccable comedic timing, while her more serious side can make you cry fat hot tears.
That’s why it’s so exciting that Whoopi is coming to the UK. Not only will she share anecdotes of her life, LIVE in front of an adoring audience she’ll also open up to offer a Q and A. I know the questions I’d like to ask. Subscribe and we’ll see if Whoopi will talk to us soon.
In the meantime, go and book your tickets before they all sell out. This is bound to be a great night out but more than that, I feel it may be enlightening, inspirational and awe inspiring too. It’s rare we get to be so up close and personal with a humongous Hollywood star, let alone one with such incredible talent and so this is one night you don’t want to miss.
I’ll be seeing you at the Utilita Cardiff, one of my favourite venues for live gigs.
