BarBeQuick Steel Kamado BBQ DEALS
Ever since Willie Harcourt-Cooze cooked me pizza on his Big Green Egg I’ve been coveting a Kamado Barbecue. Yet I couldn’t justify the cost. The Big Green Egg rolls in at over a thousand pound and there’s always something else to spend the money on. Summer can be fleeting and the season doesn’t hang around for dozens of barbecues so I decided I’d stick to enjoying this as a guest and put the idea to rest. Until a fully steel Barbequick Kamado BBQ came my way for under £200.
I wasn’t expecting it to live up to the expectations of the Big Green Egg, in fact I imagined it to be quite flimsy, a lot like the kettle Barbecues you find for £200 or less in the entrance to the supermarket or on a John Lewis display. (Not mentioning any names). Imagine my surprise when this very sturdy, very thick, very strong dimpled egg like barbecue turned up, looking like the baby cousin of the Big Green Egg. All of the swagger, half the size but just as strong, just as personable and just as easy to put together.
I’m no assembler, I’m rubbish at it but this was a breeze. Usually when I put pieces together I find misaligned parts, edges not sitting flush, something off. Yet the Kamado from Barbequick looked so good. I was proud. I still am. But how does it cook?
How Does Food Taste on the Barbequick Kamado?
Oh my, oh my. This is my first experience of a smoker and I will never go back. I didn’t think I had the knowhow to smoke food on a barbecue but the Kamado makes it so easy. Basically, if you put the pizza stone in, the food smokes. Take it out, it grills. That’s because the heat is distributed in a different way through this very simple technique. It also helps that the barbecue seals perfectly, with no gap. The perfect, impenetrable seal that ensures the meat is fully immersed in the smoke. It’s this type of smoking that would benefit from apple wood chips as you would benefit from all of the flavour with none lost to the ether.
Can You Control the Temperature on the Kamado?
The temperature control is also easy, with a gage to tell you exactly what temperature you’re cooking at. It’s as easy as cooking indoors but reminds us why we love a barbecue. That chargrilled taste, the succulent meat, the juiciness of the pulled pork. These are flavours you can’t recreate with an electric oven or a gas barbecue, these are flavours everyone needs on a balmy summer evening with friends.
In Summary
Why buy the Big Green Egg when this barbecue does everything it does and more besides. It’s easier to store, easy to transport and easy to clean. Why revert to a kettle barbecue when, for the same price, you can enjoy the most succulent, jaw dropping, delicious food of your entire life? This post is not sponsored, I’m not being paid for saying this, I’m simply very very impressed. I will never look back and my patio will always sport a Barbequick Kamado egg!
