Food delivered during lockdown direct to your door

Since the start of lockdown more and more people have been shopping online. My lovely postman told me that his job feels like Christmas everyday, except without the tips. He’s delivering parcels to the majority of households as people continue to source items online rather than going out to buy. Not only that, some stores are still closed yet they will deliver to your home. We had a look at where you can buy home and garden items and food online easily to have it delivered direct to your door.

We tested all of the retailers for quality, ease of delivery, and price.

Here are the home and garden and food shops delivering during lockdown and what we thought. If you’re looking for a regular treat check out our best subscription boxes and hampers.

Dart’s Farm

Dart’s Farm provides a range of options for delivery, from the freshest produce to succulent meat, chocolate and alcohol. We tried out their date night steak not and were suitably impressed. The steak was delicious and tender while the sides were fresh and interesting. We will be looking into buying a regular box from Dart’s Farm. The delivery was quick and the price was average. It’s guaranteed quality which is hard to find, as when we ordered from local farm shops, we found the vegetables expired within days, we had mouldy potatoes and strawberries and veg didn’t last, even in the fridge. Dart’s Farm is not like this, all of the produce is sourced from incredible suppliers who are passionate about producing the very best food and drink. They are serious about selling the very best food on the market.

Charlie Bingham’s

Charlie Bingham’s pride home cooked tasty meals in boxes for the oven or microwave. The menus are delicious and the food easy to heat up while all the ingredients are above par.

Birtelli’s Pizza Kit

We had a lot of fun with this pizza kit. The dough is already made so there’s no faffing with flour and waiting for dough to rise, you just get to do the fun but, adding the tomato sauce and the toppings of your choice. The added addition of pizza mats helped our pizza crisp up beautifully and, maybe it’s because we made it, but it was the best pizza we’ve ever tasted. Ideal for making on your own, as a couple or with children, we absolutely loved this kit and will be ordering again.

How You Can be Beautiful, Even with Bedhead!

October 9, 2016

Cook

These deliver a range of food that you can pop straight into your freezer for lazy nights when you don’t want to cook but would still like the taste of a home cooked meal. In fact, their steak and red wine pie and chicken and ham pie are the best pies I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. At first glance the portions look small, but they’re so rich that you don’t need a lot. The stock has obviously been reduced slowly over time to produce a melt in the mouth meta and a gloriously deep flavour. It reminded me of dining at Claridges. That’s how good it was. Very impressed!

Farmison and Co

Beautiful meat, tastefully packaged. We loved the pigs in blankets and the speedy delivery. Do check them out!

Soda Stream

Soda Stream are still going strong and you can order their classic one (that doesn’t even need plugging in) or their mini one to make sparkling water at home. We love it.

The Popcorn Shed

The popcorn shed have a range of gourmet flavours for their moreish crunchy, tasty popcorn. The ideal treat for a movie night or just to snack on at your desk. Our favourite is the Salted Caramel.

Nourished

Nourished are a new concept, delivering bespoke vitamins to your door in the form of stacked gummies. They taste like Haribo. You fill in a form online, that asks multiple choice questions about your health and goals and they create your bespoke stack to take daily. I definitely felt an improvement once the 30 days was up. I chose vitamins for heart, energy and mood.

Code-Beautiful

Code beautiful sell and deliver a wide range of beauty products. You can get your fix from home and make sure you look glam for that Zoom call!

Aldi

Aldi are delivering and it’s impressive how they get their Special Buys online. If you’re quick enough you can have the special buys delivered direct to your door. We loved the greenhouse while everyone else is going mad for the log burner right now, but don’t get your hopes up, it’s sold out! Also adoring their winter homeware range such as the knitted pouffe / footstool. High quality for a low price and delivered direct, what’s not to love?

Whittard

Whittards have always been a favourite of mine, ever since I was introduced to their Dreamtime Tea as a teen. It’s reassuring to know they are still delivering and orders arrive within a few days. Choose from a wide array of teas, coffees and hot chocolates! Keep your eye out for the Alice in Wonderland tea sets, as they are truly glorious.

Craft Gin Club

The first time I received a Craft Gin Club box I was bowled over by how great value it was. They pack a lot of gin and mixers into that box! If you like gin, you’ll love this. The snacks are always top notch too!

Cartwright and Butler

Cartwright and Butler have some of the best hampers we’ve seen. Not only is their food glorious and delicious but the quality of the packaging is supreme. We love the heart wicker basket and use it for collecting the eggs in a morning. The hampers are fully of tasty goodies like shortbread, cheese balls, chutneys and more.

Approved Food

Approved Food isn’t just for out of date or nearing the end of the date food. You can search for food within date too. However, this wasn’t what had me tied to the computer for three hours in a browsing state of bliss. They stock some of the best beauty products on the market and many of them at a discount price. From Laura Mercier to Wonder, Nioxin to Clinique you’ll be surprised at the brands you find. Delivery is pretty quick and the products are great quality, as Approved Food will tell you if a box is damaged before transit. We highly recommend them for discount store cupboard food and also beauty products. You’ll also find a range of gifts too.

The Black Farmer

A brilliant, inspiring farm that provides high quality meat and sundries along with gorgeous mouth watering pies. We loved the fresh tender meat from The Black Farmer and the starter meat box is the perfect place to start. We now look forward to Black Farmer deliveries as we can fill up the freezer with heart warming meals we know we’ll love.

Find them at www.theblackfarmer.com and meet Wilfred who is the only black farmer in the UK (which is a very surprising fact!)

We will be coming back!

Tracklements

For a lot of the meals above, this set of miniature condiments is ideal and you can order it direct from their website.
