Top Toy lists are ALWAYS chosen by toy shop owners and founders but we think the kids know best.

It’s true that every top toy list you see will have been chosen by someone who doesn’t play with toys. They’re chosen by those who own the toy shops, make the toys and sell the toys. Now you may think the statistics are based on sales, they’re not. Of course some analysing is done as to how similar products have faired in the past but these lists usually go to print before any sales have been made.

On the DreamToys top toy list this year they have:

          Toy Name                                                                                   Supplier                                                               Price

  1. Dress To Impress Mystery Model Dolls                            Click                                                              £12.99
  2. Gui Gui Shimmer Deluxe Pack                                           Moose Toys                                                  £19.99
  3. Hot Wheels Racing F1 Grand Prix Circuit                         Mattel                                                            £79.99
  4. Human Controller                                                                TOMY                                                            £34.99
  5. Jurassic World Primal Hatch T.Rex                                    Spin Master                                                  £64.99
  6. Marshmallow Madness                                                        Vivid Goliath                                                 £19.99
  7. Mini Brands – Fill the Fridge Playset                                   ZURU                                                            £19.99
  8. Monster Jam Smash & Bash Grave Digger RC                  Spin Master                                                  £49.99
  9. One Piece the Going Merry Pirate Ship                              LEGO                                                            £119.99
  10. Peppa Pig Oinks & Snuggles Evie Doll                                Hasbro                                                          £29.99
  11. Pokémon Trading Card Game: Mega Evolution Elite Trainer Box – Gardevoir         Pokémon              £54.99
  12. Speed Champions F1® Racing Cars                                   LEGO                                                              £22.99
  13. Sticki Rolls Sticki Rolluxe                                                     Character Options                                        £39.99
  14. Disney Stitch Ultimate Stitch Interactive Feature Plush   Just Play                                                        £79.99
  15. Wicked For Good Singing Dolls                                           Mattel                                                            £34.99

However, our child and teen testers have given us a completely different list. While the brands may be similar, the products are not. Maybe this is because our testers reach the age of 12, whereas a lot of these seem focused on toddlers. Here’s our list of the Top Toys this year, why children want them and where you can find them.

The Long Furby AKA DJ Furby

Do you remember when the long Furby became popular all over TikTok. The nightmarish creations concocted by crafting enthusiasts? Well, Furby listened to feedback and acted, creating a long Furby of their own and this one doesn’t look like it stepped out of a Child’s Play movie or been constructed by Andy’s vicious next door neighbour. This is a delightful long Furby, perfect for cuddles.

Jurassic World Primal Hatch from The Entertainer

The Entertainer have the best selection of Jurassic World toys this year. From smaller sets of mini role play dinosaurs to huge T-Rex’s hatching out of a giant egg like this one. If you have a dinosaur lover, expand their knowledge with the wide range of species on offer, from models to interactive raptors and everything in between.

Bey BBX Drop Battle Set

When my son was younger he loved Beyblade and would rope his sisters into playing. It’s a great way to release energy without the violence! As they crash and hit each other frustrations disappear and the competitive edge kicks in. He still plays with his little sister and it takes me back, every time. Adults can participate too, it’s a battle for everyone. This pack has everything you need to get started as two players. If you’re looking for ways to diffuse excess energy on a rainy day, look no further than Beyblade.

The Festive Fuggler

Let’s face it. Kids these days love a bit of the macabre. In fact they always have, yet it’s a fine line to walk between a little bit creepy and up every night screaming for mummy. It seems human teeth are fair game though. From the tooth monster in Dr Who (I’m sorry I didn’t watch that series, I’m sure he has another name) to these Fugglers who look like they have a mouthful of human gnashers. My daughter adapted one with fake eyelashes, fake nails and a few piercings. It’s terrifying. Join us on TikTok if you’d like to see it. Just search Sunday Woman. Anyhow, I digress. The gingerbread man Fuggler is cute and if your child recipient doesn’t like it, give it to a small dog. They love cuddling up to Fugglers. Maybe they remind them of their humans. Again, available at The Entertainer.

Littlest Pet Shop

My dad was an antique dealer. (This is relevant) . He worked for the Antiques Roadshow but died prematurely 23 years ago. I strongly believe if he was alive today he’d be trading LPS. Have you seen how much the series 3 Daschund goes for on Facebook Marketplace? There’s a huge community of buyers and sellers who seek earlier models and collect the latest. This is why I’m surprised LPS didn’t make the Dreamtoys list as they’re certainly bought regularly with their advent calendar sold out in days. You can find all the new LPS you need at Smyths Toys, they’ll even deliver to your door. Smyths have some fine toys in this year including..

Moriah Elizabeth Blind Boxes

Again, surprised this isn’t on the Dreamtoys list, with over 20 million subscribers and even more viewers it’s a given that people will be buying Me merchandise. The best bit is Mariah has a strict moral compass and wants her fans to receive quality products, so when you buy the Me blind bags, you know you’re in for a treat with a plushie or model that will last. We’ve been buying Me merch for 10 years now. We have a Pickle backpack, pencil case, onesie, blanket, a Derp plushie, a Georgie plushie, and so much more. It’s always superior to other merch in quality, materials and craftsmanship. Always a delight to receive. The Georgie 8 Surprise box is a must for any art loving child. You’lll find a wide range of Moriah Elizabeth Merch at Smyth’s. In the meantime, go and follow her on YouTube. You will love her squishy makeovers.

Wicked Care Bears

If you love Wicked, Wicked for Good and Care Bears you’ll love the Wicked Care Bears range. Limited editions with everyone you need. We love the Elphaba and Glinda duo. Our favourite. You can find them at Smyths or see their adventures online @basicFunUK

Miniso San Rio Kuromi

This is not a toy as such but Miniso know what they’re doing when they sell gifts that any tween or teenager will love. So many teens love to head to Minso to find the latest collabs to decorate their spaces with. Hello Kitty, PomPurin, Kuromi, My Melody and Cinnamon Roll have enjoyed a resurgence over the past four years since their 50th anniversary and now a new generation are loving anything sporting the iconic friends. I love this Kuromi fragrance pot as it looks exotic, it’s different, not found on Temu (no offence Temu) and it smells great. Did I ever share our trip to the Hello Kitty Cafe? This reminds me of that trip.

Miniso Cat Perfume

The Japanese know how to package perfume for younger people and this is a prime example. Using a cute anime theme this looks great on a bedroom dresser while smelly youthful and sweet.

Care Bears Tamagotchi

This Care Bears Tamagotchi is so cute. In a heart shape with rainbow detail it’s the perfect pet to carry around as you strive to keep it alive. Let’s introduce a new generation to the wonders of the Tamagotchi, and the responsibility of caring for a pet, without the real life consequences.

Itzy Ritzy Gracie the Goose

If you’re looking for an alternative to Jellycat, look no further as a USA brand is about to enter the UK and they have the softest, most adorable plushies you can imagine. Not only this, they also produce the best nappy backpacks (with changing mat) I’ve ever seen. In a Western style, they’re sleek, stylish and organise everything perfectly. Gracie, however, and the Octopus friend, are so sumptuous, so downy and so well made that they have the potential to last for generations. I truly favour the Octopus over Odel, as the tentacles and attention to detail is second to none. They definitely win our Best New Brand Award for 2025.

Hallmark Better Together

Another to rival Jellycat is the Better Together range from Hallmark. Even better than Jellycat, you can collect duo plushies of popular characters as Hallmark collaborations with Snoopy, Harry Potter, Star Wars and more. We love Harry and Hedwig, and with a magnet inside each, you can keep them together always or give one to a friend. These are great plushies for older children and adults and we’re excited to see where they go next. Check out the Hallmark decorations in our home decor guide.

I’ll be updating this list daily, with images, videos, links and even more top toys chosen by our panel of children. Please subscribe to be the first to hear about article updates and more. It’s free!

Posca Pens from Ryman

If you follow Moriah Elizabeth, as twenty million people do, you’ll know that for ten years she’s been calling out for Posca to expand their colour range. Posca are a brand of paint markers, they are incredible for all sorts of art projects from squishy makeovers to murals on walls and doors. I used them to create my Studio Ghibli / Labyrinth/ NeverEnding Story mural across my entire hallway (follow on Instagram to see it) and loved the control they gave while five years later it still looks as if it was painted yesterday. Anyhow, I digress. Ryman must have heard this call as one of the leading stationers in the UK. headed by Theo Paphitis (who has given us a shout out multiple times) Ryman stock all you need to make that art project pop. I was so excited when I saw this complete set of Poscas, complete with pastel colours as Moriah requested. I wonder if it was her, and her twenty million followers, suggestion or if they planned to expand from the primary colours anyhow? Either way, if you know anyone that loves a squishy makeover, up cycling thrift store finds or creating spectacular art with paints, this is the perfect gift. Posca Paints
